Malaysia will send biggest contingent to 13th Asian Schools Championships

Malaysia will send 32 players to the 13th Asian Schools Chess Championships 2017 in China. It is one of the biggest contingents the Federation ever recorded in a single overseas event so far.

The players were selected from among the winners in National Scholastic Chess Championships 2017 which was held in April this year.

Puan Haslindah Ruslan of Malaysian Chess Federation (MCF) is the Manager for this team while Madam Teh In Hooi of Penang Chess Association (PCA) will be the Head of Delegation (HOD). Another 20 officers and caretakers will also be assisting the top officials.

The Asian Schools Chess Championships will be held from 20th to 30th July at the Liaohe Art Museum in Panjin city, Liaoning province of China. As the host of the Championships, China has registered 77 players in the event.

23 federations will take part in the 13th edition of this Championships. After the hosting federation, Malaysia is the biggest contingent followed by Chinese Taipei with 27 players and Sri Lanka, 26.

The 13th Asian Schools Chess Championships is organized by the Chinese Chess Association. International Arbiter (IA) Liang Zhihua is the Tournament Director of the Championships with IA KK Chan as the Chief Arbiter.

Malaysian contingent will be departing from Kuala Lumpur International Airport on 20th July at 2:00 AM.
