Malaysian Chess Federation appears on National TV

Malaysian Chess Federation (MCF) appeared on Astro Arena live at 1:15 PM yesterday. The 15-minute talk show hosted by TV personality, Burn (Rueben Thevandran) featured MCF Deputy President, YM Tengku Ahmad Badli Shah Raja Husin and MCF Executive Secretary, Nik Hishamuddin Nik Mustapha as the guests.

Tengku Ahmad had highlighted the two major upcoming events to be held this month namely National Youth & Junior U-20 Championships and Malaysian Chess Championships respectively with the former has recorded more than 530 registered players and the number is expected to increase before the event kicks off. "It may be the biggest classical FIDE rated event will ever be held in this country," he added.

On the other note, Tengku Ahmad has proudly announced the recent success of FM Yeoh Li Tian at FIDE Zone 3.3 Chess Championships in Philipines. The 18-year-old student has created history by becoming the first Malaysian who ever won a Zonal Championships, qualified for the World Cup and received a Grandmaster norm to be the first ever GM in the country.
